Overview
If a workstation has a PC modem (Windows compatible) installed, SEOM can dial customer or supplier phone numbers by the click of a button at selected screens. This feature uses the Microsoft Phone Dialer feature that is included with most versions of Windows.
Basic Requirements
- A Windows-compatible modem and its drivers must be installed in the workstation.
- A telephone compatible with the modem must be plugged into the correct port on the modem (line out).
- The modem must be connected to the wall jack of the telephone line (line in).
- Microsoft Windows must be properly configured:
- Go to the Windows Control Panel. Open the Phone and Modem Options.
- Make sure that the area code, dialing rules, etc. are configured properly for your environment.
- Refer to Windows Help for more information.
- In SEOM, go to the Set System Parameters screen. Select the Communications parameter group. Configure the following parameters as appropriate for your environment:
- ShowPhoneButtons
- DialUse1Prefix
- UseDialingRules
- Dial9
Making a Call from SEOM
- Click in a phone number field on the Process Orders, Customers or Suppliers screens.
- Click the small telephone icon which dials the phone number.
- The Microsoft Phone Dialer dialog opens and displays the status of the call.
- Use the telephone handset attached to the workstation to communicate with the other party.
