APG Series 100 Cash Drawer

Overview

Follow the manufacturer’s documentation to attach the cash drawer to the workstation. Once the drawer is physically connected to the PC, follow the set of instructions below that apply to your cash drawer.

Newer Cash Drawers that open through a Receipt Printer

  1. Install an Epson TM series receipt printer on the workstation.
  2. Review the printer manufacturer’s documentation to find out the font and character to use to open the cash drawer.
  3. In Stone Edge, go to Main Menu > Settings > System Functions > Point-of-Sale Setup > Cash Drawer.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Select Printer.
  6. Enter the Drawer Open Character and the Drawer Open Character Font.
  7. Click Save.

Older Cash Drawers that open with a Trigger File

Your cash drawer might come with an Executable file that, when run, will cause the drawer to open.

  1. Copy this file to the c:\StoneEdge directory of each and every computer which is used as a POS terminal.
  2. Go to Main Menu > Settings > System Functions > Point-of-Sale Setup > Cash Drawer.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Select Trigger File.
  5. Click the Folder icon and navigate to the location of the Trigger File.
  6. Click Save.
  7. SEOM runs this executable when:
    1. the Open Drawer button on the POS interface is selected (system parameter ShowCashDrawerButton is set it to TRUE)
    2. an order is saved (system parameter OpenCashDrawerAutomatically is set to TRUE)
Additional Considerations for Older Cash Drawers

This cash drawer draws power directly from the USB port on your PC. Some newer PCs have energy saving features which may interfere with the drawer and cause it to not receive enough power to open. If you find that this is the case, you can purchase a powered USB hub and plug the drawer into the hub. Once the drawer is receiving enough power, it will need to charge for a few minutes before operating reliably. It is recommended that you plug it in, confirm that it works, then leave the drawer unused for at least an hour.
