Overview
If the user has installed a new version of Stone Edge and it becomes necessary to revert to the previous software version, follow the instructions in this topic.
Warning
Users can revert within Version, e.g., 7.732 can be reverted to 7.730, but users are advised not to revert across versions. Ex. do not revert from 7.732 to 5.9xx.
Preparation
- If any custom reports/modules/forms have been created or altered from when the program was upgraded until the decision to roll back to the previous version, be sure to store them in the Custom Reports database.
- Have everyone log out of the program.
- One administrative user should log back into the system and create a backup of the store data file. It would also be wise to backup the Email Templates folder and Custom Reports database as well.
Uninstalling Stone Edge
- Open the Stone Edge folder (normally C:\StoneEdge)
- Find the file “unins000.exe”
- Click to run the Uninstaller. This will need to be done on every computer that stone edge is installed on for the roll back.
OR
- Search for “Program” using windows taskbar search
- Click “Add or Remove Programs”
- Search or scroll to find “The Stone Edge Order Manager version xxxx”
- Click the triple dots on the right.
- Click “uninstall”
Install the Previous Version of the Program
- Locate the installer for the previously installed version of SEOM.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator.
- Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the installation of the program.
- Launch the application.
- When asked if you want to open the last store file that was previously accessed, respond Yes. This assumes that the most recently-opened copy of the store data file will be used. If that is not the case, respond No and navigate to the location of the appropriate copy of the store file.
- If the Security System was turned on, login with the proper credentials.
- Re-import any custom reports/modules/forms into the program file.
- Repeat steps 1-7 on each workstation that uses SEOM.
Saving a Different Version of Stone Edge
Sometimes you may want to keep a different version of Stone Edge on your computer. Performing these steps remove the need to uninstall the previous version.
- Open Stone Edge.
- Immediately press CTRL + SHIFT + L
- Pop-up “Clear Links?” appears.
- Click “Okay.”
- Close Stone Edge
- Open the stone Edge Folder. Default location C:\StoneEdge
- Locate SEOM.MDE and Rename it SEOMxxxx.MDE (Where xxxx is the Version Number)
- Locate SEOrdMan.mdb -> rename it to SEOrdManxxxx.mdb (where xxxx is the version number)
Installing a Previous Version of Stone Edge from a Renamed File
- Perform steps of “Saving a Different Version of Stone Edge” to the current working version of Stone Edge.
- Find the version of Stone Edge to revert to (two files).
- Right-click.
- Click “Rename” (Windows 11, click rename symbol or F2 when highlighting the file)
NOTE: xxxx is the version number- Rename SEOMxxxx.mde -> SEOM.mde.
- Rename SEOrdManxxxx.mdb -> SEOrdMan.mdb.
Opening Stone Edge
- To Open Stone Edge typically using the icon OR open Access and click to open SEOrdMan.mdb.
- Wait for Stone Edge to compile and prompt to open a store.
- Open Store using the “previously opened” prompt OR navigate to the “Select Store to Open” pop-up.
- Wait for the database to compile, load, and check tables to finish.
- Store Data file is open when pop up “Store [Sore Name] opened!” appears.
- Click “Ok.”
