Create Database Connection

Overview

This screen is opened by selecting Switch Database on the Warehouse Sync>Settings tab, and is designed to create a new Monsoon Fulfillment Manager database or change the FM database you are currently viewing.

Description of the screen

Specify the SQL Server Instance

• type in the name of the SQL Server Instance (preferred) or select Find Servers to populate this list  
• used when creating a new database

Find Servers

• populates the drop-down list with names of available SQL servers
• it is faster to type in the name of the SQL Server

Use SQL Authentication

• select this if the specified SQL Server is configured for SQL Authentication rather than Windows Authentication
• this practice is not recommended, but is permitted in the event of a valid business case for doing so

Username

• enter the user name to access the database if SQL Authentication is used

Password

• enter the password associated with the user name if SQL Authentication is used

Show

• select this to see the characters as they are typed into the Username and Password fields

Verify Connection

• test the connection to the specified SQL Server

New Database Name

• enter a name for the database

• do not use spaces or special characters in the database name

Create New Database

• when the connection to the SQL Server is confirmed and a name is specified for the new database, select this to create the new database on the specified SQL Server

Select Existing Database

• rather than creating a new database, it is possible to choose an existing database

Find Databases

• select this to populate the Select Existing Database drop-down list

Verify Database

• after creating a new database, select this to confirm the connection to the database is valid

DSN Name

• type in the name of the DSN
• or, populate this field by selecting from a list of existing DSNs

Load Existing DSN

• produces a list of DSNs already defined on the local workstation

Save

• after creating a new database or selecting a different database, choose this to make the database selection permanent
