Add New Product

Overview

The Add New Product screen is used to create an inventory record for a new product during the course of performing another action, such as placing a Manual Order.

Required fields are denoted by red text.

This screen only contains a subset of the product fields found on the Inventory screen, so it may be necessary to use the Inventory screen to add more information to the item's inventory record later.

To open the Add New Product screen, follow one of the following paths:

Main Menu>What would you like to do?>Create a New Order>Items>Add Items>Add New SKU

Main Menu>Create a New Order>For a new or existing customer>Items>Add Items>Add New SKU

Description of the screen

Add New Product (Edit Inventory)

Local SKU

enter the product's Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) in this field (required)

Item Name

enter the name of the item in this field (required)

Product Information tab

Description

enter a brief description of the product (optional)

Unit Price

enter the retail selling price of the item (required)

Blank Fields

these fields contain user-defined price levels (optional)
enter the appropriate price for the item at each price level

Barcode

enter the barcode of the product

Published Weight

enter the weight of the product as published at the Web store (required)
this normally includes the weight of packaging

Actual Weight

the weight of the item

ATP

represents the total number of units of this product available in all warehouses to fill orders (Available to Promise, or ATP)

Target Qty

only displayed when POCalcMethod = Target
the desired number of units to have on hand at all times

Reorder Point

the value in this field should represent the threshold, or number of units in-stock, at which the program should trigger an order for more units from the supplier
this field is not used if POCalcMethod is set to Target

Reorder Quantity

the number of units that the program should order from the supplier when the Reorder Point threshold has been reached
this field is not used if POCalcMethod is set to Target

Drop-Ship

select this box if the product is shipped from the supplier directly to the customer
review system parameter, DropShipShowAsShipped, to determine how the program displays the allocation status of drop-shipped items

Ignore ATP

to have the program assume this product is always in stock, select this box

Taxable

check this to tell the program to tax sales of this product

Selling by Lots Section

this section applies to Lot SKUs that consist of multiple units of a another single unit SKU
for example, motor oil is sold by the bottle or by the case; the SKU for the case consists of 12 units of the bottle's SKU

Single Unit SKU

enter the SKU of the individual item that is part of the Lot

Search

select this to open the Search Inventory screen and locate a SKU to enter in the Single Unit SKU field

# in this SKU

enter the number of units of the individual item SKU that make up the Lot

Email BCC

enter an address to receive a copy of any email messages sent by Monsoon Order Manager for orders containing this product

Supplier

select the supplier of the product from this list

Suppliers's SKU

enter the Stock Keeping Unit the supplier uses to identify this product; this can be the same as the Local SKU
a product can have a different Supplier SKU for each Supplier with which it is associated

Unit Cost

enter the dollar amount that the supplier charges for this product

Quantity on Order

this field displays the number of units of the product that the merchant currently has on order with the selected supplier

Save

when all pertinent information has been recorded, select this to create the new product record

Cancel

select this to exit this screen without creating the new product record

Custom Fields tab

The Custom Fields tab is only visible if the user has defined custom inventory fields. Refer to Configuring Custom Fields for more information about setting up custom inventory fields.

Web & Export Fields Tab

Thumbnail

contains the path to the thumbnail image of the product
used by Shop.com and Yahoo! shopping cart systems

Image

specifies the path to the image file of the product
inventory field originally provided to import Yahoo!'s Image field into Monsoon Order Manager ; also used by Shop.com
refer to Knowledge Base topic, Displaying Images for more information about using this field

Header

inventory field originally provided to hold Yahoo!'s Caption field
also used by Shop.com product export

Footer

the value in this field is included in the product export to Shop.com

Ignore ATP on Web

if this field is selected, the ATP value for this item is not sent to any Web site
affects both Manual and Real-Time Inventory synchronization processes

Credit Acct

this field is for use with QuickBooks and is only necessary if sales data from some products needs to be exported to different QuickBooks accounts
