How to Create an Approval Rule Group

Overview

• The 5.803 Beta version of SEOM introduced the concept of a compound approval rule, which is referred to as an "approval rule group".

• An approval rule group allows you to test multiple fields for different criteria using an implied "AND", so that the action is applied only if ALL criteria are TRUE.

• A Rule Group MUST have at least one test defined before the system allows it to be saved.

• Once a rule group is created, its Action cannot be modified but individual rules can be added or removed. If it is necessary to modify the action, delete the approval rule group and start over.

• Individual rules in the group can only be deleted and re-added, they cannot be edited.

• A Rule Group cannot be converted into a simple Approval Rule, although it may only have one test defined.

• A existing simple Approval Rule cannot be converted into a Rule Group and a Rule Group cannot be converted into simple Approval Rules, even though it may only consist of a single approval test.

The following example demonstrates how to set up an approval rule group that cancels an order if it must be shipped outside of the US, AND the product total is greater than or equal to $500, AND the fraud score exceeds a value of "5", indicating the order has a 50% or greater chance of being fraudulent.

1. 1. Go to Main Menu > Settings > Order Functions > Approval Rules.

   2. Click New.

   3. Choose Destination Country from the left-most drop-down list in the If... section of the screen synonymous with the Microsoft Access Form object or graphical user interface (GUI).

   4. Choose Doesn't Equal from the second drop-down list.

   5. Enter values that represent the United States, such as "US," "United States," and "USA", etc., in the Value or comma delimited list. Enter the country code or codes as they are passed from the shopping cart an e-commerce software system that allows a retailer to sell products on the Web. In the context of Monsoon OMS, it refers to the settings that describe a merchant's web store to the program, allowing it communicate with the online shopping cart and import orders and other information or carts. When entering dollar values do not include a dollar sign ($), and for weights do not include the unit abbreviation.

   6. Select to "left-click" the mouse on an object, usually a row in a table, in the context of Monsoon OMS documentation Any of List.

   7. Select Cancel the order in the Then... section of the screen.

   8. Click Create Rule Group. The first portion of the rule group is created and listed at the bottom of the screen.

   9. Select Product Total from the left-most drop-down list in the If.. section of the screen.

   10. Choose Greater Than or Equal To from the second drop-down list.

   11. Enter 500 in the Value or comma delimited list box.

   12. Select the Cancel the order box.

   13. Click Add Criteria. The second portion of the rule group is created and listed at the bottom of the screen.

   14. Select MaxMind Fraud Score from the left-most drop-down list in the If.. section of the screen.

   15. Choose Greater Than or Equal To from the second drop-down list.

   16. Enter 5 in the Value or comma delimited list box.

   17. Click Add Criteria. The final portion of the rule group is created and listed at the bottom of the screen.

   18. Click Save.
