Importing Custom Order Fields at Checkout from Miva Merchant

The Order Manager can import data from custom order checkout fields in your Miva store, provided you are using one of the following third-party modules to collect data from custom checkout fields. These are the only modules, which are supported by the Order Manager:

These modules allow you to collect supplemental, required or non-required responses from customers at checkout. They can be purchased online and downloaded to your computer. (For more information about adding modules to your Miva Merchant store, please see Miva Merchant Documentation.)

Once you have installed one of these modules in your Miva store, you then configure the Order Manager to pull data from the module by setting the corresponding system parameters.

Setting up the Order Manager to Pull Custom Order Field Data

To set up Order Manager to pull in the data from the module

  1. Go to Maintenance Menu> Maintenance tab> Set System Parameters.

  2. Select the Miva parameter group.

  3. In the Parameters in Selected Group box, select the appropriate parameter for your module:

    1. For William Weiland Addendum module, set the UseAddendumModule parameter to True, and then click Save.

    2. For either Sebenza Studios Additional Checkout Data modules, set the UseSebenzaAddlDataModule parameter to True, and then click Save.

    3. For Viking Coders Order Instructions module, set the UseVikingCoderCheckout parameter to True, and then click Save.

  4. Next, select the AddendumDestination parameter. In the drop-down menu under Parameter Details, select one of the following, and then click Save:

  1. Comments - This will place all data fields returned from the module into the Comments field in the Order Manager.

  2. Order Instructions - This will place all data fields returned from the module into the Order Instructions field in the Order Manager.

  3. Custom Fields - This will allow you to direct each field to a separate destination field in the Order Manager. This option requires that you set a DestForAddendField parameter for each field (there are 10 numbered DestForAddendField parameters, allowing up to 10 fields).

  1. If you selected Custom Fields in step 4, then select the numbered DestForAddendField parameter that matches the field number of the data in the module that you want to store. Then, select the Order Manager field option destination from the drop-down list and click Save. For example: If you gather data in field 4 of the addendum (module) and you want to store this data in the Gift Message field of the Order Manager, then select the DestForAddendField4 parameter. Click on the drop-down list, select Gift Message, and click Save. Repeat this step for any additional Addendum (module) fields you want to track.

Note 1: If you select one of the custom fields (text, integer, date or currency), the incoming data must match the data type. For example: If you select a custom date field but the incoming data is not recognized as a date by the Order Manager (like "February Fifteenth"), then the data will be disregarded. The custom text fields are limited to 50 characters but can be upgraded to a maximum of 255.

Note 2: If you select one of the custom fields (text, integer, date or currency), then you will also need to set up a label for that custom field. To do this, select the Custom Order Fields parameter group. Select the custom field's name parameter. For example, If you are assigning DestForAddendField4 to CustomText1 then select the CustomTextFieldName1 parameter. Type in the label that you want to use for this custom field in the Parameter Text and click Save. Repeat for any additional custom fields needed. You may also need to set the ShowCustomSortFields parameter (found in the Custom parameter group) to True to display the custom order fields throughout the program, if you are running an older version of the Order Manager.

Important Note About the William Weiland Addendum Module

If you perform a default installation of the Addendum.mv (or .mvc) module in your Miva store, the module is designed to store the following information in the first three fields:

Any Custom data that you collect in addition to these fields will begin at Field 4 and continue through Field 10. Order Manager only looks for a maximum of 10 custom fields in the Addendum data.

Note: Keep in mind that you can modify the Addendum.mv file (if using Merchant 4.13 or lower) to allow fields 2 and 3 to be used to collect additional data rather than their default values. Field 1 must contain the Miva Order Number.
