Getting Started<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    \r\n
  1. Plug the Cherry Keyboard into to your computer.<\/li>\r\n
  2. Install the Cherry Keyboard software.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Note:<\/strong>\u00a0The setup disc included with the Cherry Keyboard may be outdated! Please download the latest software from the manufacturer’s site. Be sure to choose the correct version for your keyboard (USB or PS\/2):<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    About Keyboard Setup<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    After you plug in your keyboard and install the software, there are two parts to the keyboard setup. In the first part of the setup, you configure the Cherry Keyboard software to place “header” and “terminator” characters around each track of credit card data. This will allow\u00a0SEOM\u00a0to “parse” the data into usable fields. In the second part of the setup, you “tell”\u00a0SEOM\u00a0what those track header and terminator characters are by inputting them into designated fields in\u00a0SEOM\u00a0Point-of Sale setup.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Visa and MasterCard credit cards contain two tracks of account data in the magnetic stripe; American Express credit cards contains three tracks of account data. However, you cannot configure the Order Manager for three tracks of data or you will get an error message when you run Visa and MC cards.\u00a0Therefore, even if you accept American Express cards, you must only configure header and terminator characters for two tracks of data.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Configuring the Cherry Software<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
      \r\n
    • To open the Cherry Keyboard software, go to Windows Start menu > All Programs > Cherry Tools > Designer.<\/li>\r\n
    • In the Designer Wizard window, selectModify active configuration of a keyboard<\/strong>\u00a0and click\u00a0Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      • Click\u00a0Magnetic Card<\/strong>\u00a0to program Header and Terminator characters for each track of credit card data.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

          \r\n
        • Click\u00a0Track 1<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

          • Select the\u00a0Track 1 Enabled<\/strong>\u00a0check box if it’s not already checked. Configure\u00a0Track 1<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

            • Select the\u00a0Enabled<\/strong>\u00a0check box under\u00a0Header<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n
            • Click\u00a0Edit<\/strong>. The Cherry Macro Recorder screen opens.<\/li>\r\n
            • Clear the\u00a0Show upcode<\/strong>\u00a0check box.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

              • Using the keyboard screen, click the open bracket character three times ([[[) so that it appears in the lower selection window. You can use a different character if you want, but we recommend 2-3 characters that you are unlikely to type together, such as three brackets, three back-slashes (\\\\\\), or two semi-colons (;;).<\/li>\r\n
              • Click\u00a0OK<\/strong>\u00a0to save the characters. Three open bracket characters appear in the\u00a0Header<\/strong>field.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

                • Select the\u00a0Terminator Enabled<\/strong>\u00a0check box.<\/li>\r\n
                • Click\u00a0Edit t<\/strong>o open the\u00a0Cherry Macro Recorder again.<\/li>\r\n
                • Using the keyboard screen, click the back-slash character one (\\) time so it appears in the lower selection window. (Do not use more than one character in the Terminator field!)<\/li>\r\n
                • Click\u00a0OK<\/strong>. The back-slash character appears in the\u00a0Terminator<\/strong>\u00a0field.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

                    \r\n
                  • Repeat steps a. through h. for\u00a0Track 2.<\/strong>\u00a0Use closed brackets (]]]) for the\u00a0Track 2 Header<\/strong>and the same character, a single back-slash (\\), for the\u00a0Track 2 Terminator<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
                      \r\n
                    • When you’re done, click\u00a0Activate<\/strong>\u00a0on the upper navigation bar of the screen. A Keyboard Testing window opens that allows you to swipe a \u00a0credit card to see the placement of the Header and Terminator characters you just programmed.<\/li>\r\n
                    • Leave the Cherry Designer software open while you enter the correct characters into\u00a0SEOM\u00a0in the next section.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

                      Configuring\u00a0SEOM<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
                        \r\n
                      • Go to\u00a0Main Menu > Settings > System Functions ><\/strong>\u00a0Point-of-Sale Setup<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n
                      • Select the\u00a0Scanners<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\r\n
                      • Click\u00a0Edit<\/strong>\u00a0to enter the Prefix (Header) and Suffix (Terminator) for Tracks 1 and 2.<\/li>\r\n
                      • In the\u00a0Track 1 Prefix<\/strong>\u00a0field, enter the\u00a0Track 1 Header<\/strong>\u00a0characters you programmed into the Cherry software. In\u00a0Track 1 Suffix<\/strong>\u00a0field, enter the\u00a0Track 1 Terminator<\/strong>\u00a0characters that you programmed into the Cherry software. Enter your\u00a0Track 2 Header<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Terminator<\/strong>\u00a0characters into the\u00a0Track 2 Prefix<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Suffix<\/strong>\u00a0fields, respectively.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
