\r\n \t\t\t\t\tWhen importing data from a text file, if the data contains commas, the file should be saved as a tab-delimited file, not a csv, or you will encounter errors. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n \t\t

\r\n \t\t\t\t\tQuotes should not be present in text files, regardless of whether it is a csv or tab-delimited file, or you will encounter errors. \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n \t\t\t \t\t\t\r\n \t\t<\/div>\r\n \t\t\n

  1. Go to\u00a0Main Menu > Manage My Inventory ><\/i>\u00a0\u00a0Import My Inventory – File<\/i><\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Type in the path to the text file or database that contains the data to be imported, or click the\u00a0Folder\u00a0<\/strong>to navigate to the location of the file. If a database is used, the table containing the data must also be selected.<\/li>\n
  3. The program displays the records from the input file at the bottom of the screen. If the input file contains headers, the program attempts to map\u00a0them to the appropriate\u00a0SEOM<\/span>\u00a0fields automatically. Manually map any fields the program is not able to distinguish later in this process.<\/li>\n
  4. Click\u00a0Next\u00a0<\/strong>to proceed to the\u00a0Import Options<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\n
  5. Change the default settings of the\u00a0Field Delimiter<\/strong>\u00a0field and\u00a0First Row Contains Field Names\u00a0<\/strong>check box as needed to match your input file.<\/li>\n
  6. Choose the mode the import process should follow by selecting or clearing the\u00a0Start by Deleting All Existing Products<\/strong>, Create New Products<\/strong>, or Modify Existing Products<\/strong>, check boxes.<\/li>\n
  7. Optional<\/strong>: To add a supplier\u00a0record at this time, click\u00a0Add New<\/strong>\u00a0and enter basic information about the new supplier. Once added, the new supplier is listed in the\u00a0Default\u00a0Supplier<\/strong>\u00a0drop-down list.<\/li>\n
  8. Determine how the program handles Quantity on Hand information during the import. Select\u00a0Replace\u00a0<\/strong>to substitute the value in the input file for the value in the existing product record, or select\u00a0Add to<\/strong> and change the QOH in the product record to the sum of the existing value plus the QOH value in the input file.<\/li>\n
  9. Click\u00a0Next\u00a0<\/strong>to proceed to the first page of the\u00a0Inventory Fields<\/strong>\u00a0tab and map those fields, as needed.<\/li>\n
  10. Click\u00a0Next\u00a0<\/strong>to proceed to the second page of the\u00a0Inventory Fields<\/strong>\u00a0tab and map those fields as needed.<\/li>\n
  11. If custom inventory fields are defined, click\u00a0Next\u00a0<\/strong>to proceed to the first page of the\u00a0Custom Fields<\/strong>\u00a0tab which contains custom Text and Integer inventory fields. Map those fields to fields in the input file, as needed.<\/li>\n
  12. Click\u00a0Next\u00a0<\/strong>to proceed to the second page of the\u00a0Custom Fields<\/strong>\u00a0tab, which contains custom Currency and Date<\/strong> inventory fields.<\/li>\n
  13. Click\u00a0Next\u00a0<\/strong>to proceed to the\u00a0Web Fields\u00a0<\/strong>tab and map those fields as needed. Most of these fields are shopping cart specific and may not apply to your shopping cart system.<\/li>\n
  14. Click\u00a0Next\u00a0<\/strong>to proceed to the\u00a0Pricing Fields<\/strong> tab, which relates to the multi-level pricing feature of the program. Price Level 1 is not listed here because it is covered by the Regular Price<\/strong>, On Sale<\/strong> and Sale Price fields on the first page of the Inventory Fields<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n
  15. Click\u00a0Next\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>to proceed to the\u00a0Finish and Import<\/strong>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\n
  16. Select the\u00a0Backup Before Importing<\/strong> check box to make a backup copy of the program tables affected by this process. Click Restore from Backup<\/strong> on the Select File to Import<\/strong> tab if it is necessary to roll-back the changes. For example, if you discover that a field was mapped incorrectly, restore the backup, correct the field mappings and repeat the import process.<\/li>\n
  17. Optional<\/strong>: Click\u00a0Test Data\u00a0<\/strong>and the program checks for limited data errors.<\/li>\n
  18. Select\u00a0Begin Import<\/strong>\u00a0to start the process.<\/li>\n
  19. If a backup copy was requested, respond\u00a0OK<\/strong>\u00a0to the confirmation message.<\/li>\n
  20. The program provides a summary of the outcome of the import process that includes a count of any new records added and existing records edited.<\/li>\n
