Overview<\/h2>\n

Follow the manufacturer’s documentation to attach the cash drawer to the workstation. Once the drawer is physically connected to the PC, follow the set of instructions below that apply to your cash drawer.<\/p>\n

Newer Cash Drawers that open through a Receipt Printer<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Install an Epson TM series receipt printer on the workstation.<\/li>\n
  2. Review the printer manufacturer’s documentation to find out the font and character to use to open the cash drawer.<\/li>\n
  3. In Stone Edge, go to\u00a0Main Menu > Settings > System Functions > Point-of-Sale Setup > Cash Drawer<\/strong>.<\/i><\/li>\n
  4. Click\u00a0Edit<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Select Printer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. Enter the\u00a0Drawer Open Character<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0Drawer Open Character Font<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  7. Click\u00a0Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Older Cash Drawers that open with a Trigger File<\/h2>\n

    Your cash drawer might come with an Executable file that, when run, will cause the drawer to open.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Copy this file to the c:\\StoneEdge directory of each and every computer which is used as a POS terminal.<\/li>\n
    2. Go to\u00a0Main Menu > Settings > System Functions > Point-of-Sale Setup > Cash Drawer<\/i><\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    3. Click\u00a0Edit<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    4. Select\u00a0Trigger File<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    5. Click the\u00a0Folder\u00a0<\/strong>icon and navigate to the location of the\u00a0Trigger File<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    6. Click\u00a0Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    7. SEOM<\/span>\u00a0runs this executable when:\n
        \n
      1. the\u00a0Open Drawer<\/strong>\u00a0button on the POS interface is selected (system parameter\u00a0ShowCashDrawerButton\u00a0<\/strong>is set it to TRUE<\/strong>)<\/li>\n
      2. an order is saved (system parameter\u00a0OpenCashDrawerAutomatically\u00a0<\/strong>is set to\u00a0TRUE<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        Additional Considerations for Older Cash Drawers<\/h5>\n

        This cash drawer draws power directly from the USB port on your PC.\u00a0Some newer PCs have energy saving features which may interfere with the drawer and cause it to not receive enough power to open.\u00a0If you find that this is the case, you can purchase a powered USB hub and plug the drawer into the hub.\u00a0Once the drawer is receiving enough power, it will need to charge for a few minutes before operating reliably. It is recommended that you plug it in, confirm that it works, then leave the drawer unused for at least an hour.<\/p>\n
