{"id":413,"date":"2022-11-10T19:17:07","date_gmt":"2022-11-10T19:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=413"},"modified":"2022-11-16T17:38:22","modified_gmt":"2022-11-16T17:38:22","slug":"defining-task-specific-workstations","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/articles\/defining-task-specific-workstations\/","title":{"rendered":"Defining Task Specific Workstations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Overview<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">SEOM<\/span> allows the user to designate individual computers as Task Specific Workstations.<\/p>\n<p>For example, you could configure one or more of your computers as &#8220;Point of Sale Only&#8221; systems. If you run\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small;\">SEOM<\/span> on those computers, the program will go directly to the POS (Point of Sale) screen when you open it. When you leave the POS screen, <span style=\"font-size: small;\">SEOM<\/span>\u00a0will close. No other\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small;\">SEOM<\/span>\u00a0screens or functions will be available on those computers.<\/p>\n<p>Or, if your warehouse staff handles all of your shipping, they could have a PC that can only access the <strong>Pack Orders<\/strong> screen in the <strong>Order Manager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Workstations can be designated for the following screens\/tasks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">Main Menu (has access to all normal\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small;\">SEOM<\/span>\u00a0functions)<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Point of Sale<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Manual Orders<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Pack Orders<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">View Inventory<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">View Customers<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">Custom Menu (goes to the user-written menu defined in the system parameter\u00a0<strong>CustomMainMenu<\/strong>, in the\u00a0<strong>Custom\u00a0<\/strong>parameter group)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of the choices in the list above, except\u00a0<strong>Main Menu\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Custom Menu,<\/strong> restrict users at that workstation to a specific screen.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Setup<\/b><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"NumberedList\">Go to\u00a0<strong><i>Main Menu&gt;Settings&gt;Data Functions&gt;List Maintenance<\/i><\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"NumberedList\">In the Select\u00a0<strong>List\u00a0<\/strong>box, select\u00a0<strong>Computer Startup Screens<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"NumberedList\">In the\u00a0<strong>Computer Name<\/strong>\u00a0field, enter the Windows computer name for the workstation to restrict to a startup screen. If you are at that workstation, click the\u00a0<strong>This\u00a0<\/strong>button to have the program automatically enter the computer name of the workstation.<\/li>\n<li class=\"NumberedList\">Select the appropriate startup screen name for that computer from the<strong>\u00a0Startup Screens<\/strong>\u00a0drop-down list. If any screen other than the\u00a0<i>Main Menu<\/i>\u00a0or\u00a0<i>Custom Menu<\/i>\u00a0is selected, that will be the only screen that will be available to all users on that workstation. When the startup screen is closed, the program will close as well.
