While it is possible to select an existing inventory record and define it as an Assembly, the recommended practice is to create a new SKU whenever a new combination of products will constitute an Assembly.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The minimum fields that need to contain a value before the new inventory record can be saved are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Local SKU<\/li>\n<li>Item Name<\/li>\n<li>Primary Supplier<\/li>\n<li>Unit Cost (which should be zero for the time being, the program will calculate it later)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Click\u00a0<strong>Save\u00a0<\/strong>to create the new inventory record.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Click\u00a0<strong>Close\u00a0<\/strong>to exit the\u00a0<i>Inventory<\/i>\u00a0<a id=\"HotSpot16172\"><\/a>screen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Define an Assembly SKU<\/h2>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Go to\u00a0<strong><i>Main Menu &gt; Settings &gt; Inventory Functions &gt; Assemblies<\/i><\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Select\u00a0<strong>Define Assemblies<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">The\u00a0<strong>Show: All<\/strong>\u00a0radio button should already be selected.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Select the product SKU (inventory record) that was just created in the previous section from the\u00a0<strong>Assembly SKU<\/strong>\u00a0combo box, or use\u00a0<strong>Search\u00a0<\/strong>to locate the correct inventory record and enter it into the combo box. The\u00a0<strong>Item Name<\/strong>\u00a0field is populated with the name previously assigned to the inventory item at that time.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Next, enter or select an inventory item that is part of the Assembly in the\u00a0<strong>SKU to Add<\/strong>\u00a0combo box. The adjacent\u00a0<strong>Search\u00a0<\/strong>button can also be used to add a SKU to the\u00a0<strong>SKU to Add<\/strong>\u00a0combo box.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Once a SKU has been entered in the\u00a0<strong>SKU to Add\u00a0<\/strong>combo box, enter the number of units of the selected component that are needed for the Assembly in the\u00a0<strong>Qty\u00a0<\/strong>field.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Click\u00a0<strong>Add<\/strong>. The component SKU is listed in the<strong>\u00a0Parts in this Assembly<\/strong>\u00a0section of the screen.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Repeat steps 4 through 7 as many times as necessary until all components have been added to the new Assembly SKU.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">When finished, click\u00a0<strong>Close<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Build an Assembly (perform inventory adjustments related to the Assembly)<\/h2>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Open the\u00a0<i>Work with Assemblies<\/i>\u00a0screen by going to\u00a0<strong><i>Main Menu &gt; Settings &gt; Inventory Functions &gt; Assemblies<\/i><\/strong><i>.<\/i><\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">The\u00a0<strong>Build Assemblies<\/strong>\u00a0radio button is selected by default when the screen is initially opened.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Select the Assembly SKU (inventory record) that created in the previous section from the\u00a0<strong>Assembly SKU <\/strong>combo box, or use\u00a0<strong>Search\u00a0<\/strong>to locate the correct inventory record and enter it into the combo box. The adjacent\u00a0<strong>Search\u00a0<\/strong>button can also be used to add a SKU to the\u00a0<strong>SKU to Add<\/strong>\u00a0combo box.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Once a SKU has been entered in the\u00a0<strong>Assembly SKU\u00a0<\/strong>combo box, the program calculates the number of Assemblies that can be built from the existing QOH of all components, which is displayed in the field of the same name.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Decide how the program should determine the cost of the assembly:\n<ol>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">clear the\u00a0<strong>Get cost from parts<\/strong>\u00a0box \u00a0to have the cost equal the sum of the cost of all of the components<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">select the\u00a0<strong>Get cost from parts<\/strong>\u00a0box and enter an additional value that should be added to the cost of each Assembly or divided equally among all of the Assemblies that are about to be built<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\"><a id=\"HotSpot47935\"><\/a>FIFO\u00a0must be enabled to see the cost, and information from the oldest unit is displayed at this screen<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">To print barcode labels for each of the Assemblies being built, select the\u00a0<strong>Print Labels<\/strong>\u00a0check box.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Choose the number of Assemblies to build, up to the value of the\u00a0<strong>Qty. that can be built\u00a0field<\/strong>, and enter that number in the\u00a0<strong>Qty to Build<\/strong>\u00a0field. The\u00a0<strong>Up\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Down\u00a0<\/strong>arrows can also be used to alter the contents of the Qty to Build field.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Click\u00a0<strong>Build Assemblies<\/strong>\u00a0button. The program calculates the new quantity on hand figures for the Assembly SKU and each of its individual components.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Click\u00a0<strong>Close\u00a0<\/strong>to exit the\u00a0<i>Work with Assemblies<\/i>\u00a0screen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Break an Assembly (perform inventory adjustments related to the Assembly)<\/h2>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Open the\u00a0<i>Work with Assemblies<\/i>\u00a0screen by going to\u00a0<strong><i>Main Menu &gt; Settings &gt; Inventory Functions &gt; Assemblies<\/i><\/strong><i>.<\/i><\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">The\u00a0<strong>Break Assemblies<\/strong>\u00a0radio button is selected by default when the screen is initially opened.<\/li>\n<li class=\"Numberedlist\">Select the Assembly SKU (inventory record) to be broken-down into its components from the\u00a0<strong>Assembly SKU<\/strong>\u00a0combo box, or use\u00a0<strong>Search\u00a0<\/strong>to locate the correct inventory record and enter it into the combo box.
