{"id":262,"date":"2019-04-03T19:51:45","date_gmt":"2019-04-03T19:51:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=262"},"modified":"2025-06-09T18:22:24","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T18:22:24","slug":"pos-backordering-an-item","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/articles\/pos-backordering-an-item\/","title":{"rendered":"POS Backordering an Item"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>How to Backorder a Product at the POS Interface<\/h2>\n<p>There are two ways in which an item can be backordered at the POS screen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">by revising the line item of a product that is normally kept in stock, but you decide you&#8217;d prefer to order it from the vendor rather than fill it from your inventory (requires system parameter <strong>CheckInventory<\/strong> set to <strong>TRUE<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">by entering the number of units to backorder on the <strong>Pull Inventory<\/strong> form which appears when an out-of-stock item is added to a Point-of-Sale order<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The customer is not normally charged for the item until it is received from the supplier.<\/p>\n<p>The program can send an email to the customer when the backorder has been filled if customer information is added to the order.
