{"id":226,"date":"2019-04-03T15:49:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-03T15:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=226"},"modified":"2019-06-25T16:00:54","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T16:00:54","slug":"security-options","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/articles\/security-options\/","title":{"rendered":"Security Options"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Overview<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">The Security Options screen is accessed by going to\u00a0<i>Main Menu &gt; Settings &gt; System Functions &gt; Security Options.<\/i><\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">The\u00a0<i>Settings<\/i>\u00a0tab is the default view of this screen and is where the Security System is enabled or disabled.<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">It is highly recommended to use the\u00a0<strong>Order Manager<\/strong>\u00a0Log-In Option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Description of the Settings Tab<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1309\" src=\"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/securityform.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"456\" height=\"497\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/securityform.jpg 456w, https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/securityform-275x300.jpg 275w, https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/securityform-46x50.jpg 46w, https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/securityform-55x60.jpg 55w, https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/securityform-92x100.jpg 92w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 456px) 100vw, 456px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Security screen<\/p>\n<h2>Settings Tab<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Turn Security On\/Off Link<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">select this link and then\u00a0<strong>Save\u00a0<\/strong>to enable or disable the Security System<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1311\" src=\"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/securityformsecurityon.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"456\" height=\"497\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Log-In Option<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">select <strong>Order Manager<\/strong> and then define users, groups and set their permission levels on the other tabs of this screen<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">do not select the\u00a0<strong>Windows\u00a0<\/strong>option unless you are very familiar with Windows users and security<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Save Button<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">select this after making changes to the settings on this screen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Users Tab<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">this tab is not visible until the security system is enabled<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">used to create new users or change the characteristics of existing User IDs or the groups to which they belong.<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">if you have defined Packers or Sales People through the\u00a0<i>Setup Guide,<\/i>\u00a0that information can be imported into the Security System by clicking\u00a0<strong>Import Packers &amp; Sale People<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Groups Tab<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">this tab is not visible until the security system is enabled<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">the program provides four basic Groups (Cashiers, Power Users, Packers and Sales People) that already have basic permissions assigned to them<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">you can also create your own user groups and define their permissions<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">permissions are generally assigned to user groups and then users are assigned to the Group that has the appropriate level of access for them to perform their job function<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">for example, Packers do not usually need the ability to run credit card transactions and therefore would not belong to the same Group as Sales People<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Object Permissions Tab<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">this tab is not visible until the security system is enabled<\/li>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">use this tab to view the permissions for screens and reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Close Button<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"BulletedList\">exit the\u00a0<i>Security Options<\/i>\u00a0screen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview The Security Options screen is accessed by going to\u00a0Main Menu &gt; Settings &gt; System Functions &gt; Security Options.
