{"id":192,"date":"2019-04-02T18:15:29","date_gmt":"2019-04-02T18:15:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=192"},"modified":"2025-06-05T14:57:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T14:57:12","slug":"maxmind-fraud-prevention","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/stoneedge.com\/kb\/articles\/maxmind-fraud-prevention\/","title":{"rendered":"MaxMind Fraud Prevention"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Overview<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>MaxMind Fraud Prevention offers a subscription service, minFraud, which is an online fraud detection service that reduces chargebacks by identifying risky orders to be held for further review.\n<ul>\n<li>The minFraud service identifies whether an online transaction comes from an anonymizing proxy, high risk IP address, or high risk email.<\/li>\n<li>The minFraud service is also used to identify fraud in online e-commerce transactions, affiliate referrals, surveys, account logins and signups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>You must have a subscription to MaxMind.com&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maxmind.com\/app\/ccfd_features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Standard or Premium<\/a>\u00a0fraud prevention services \u00a0in order to use it with\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small;\">SEOM<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>This service only works with shopping carts that supply customer&#8217;s IP addresses, such as Miva or Shift4Shop. Check with your shopping cart system to see if they provide IP addresses with other order information.<\/li>\n<li>Fraud checking takes place manually at the\u00a0<i>Customer<\/i>\u00a0tab of the\u00a0<i>Process Orders<\/i> screen\u00a0and automatically when importing orders from the internet.<\/li>\n<li>The riskScore from minFraud ranges from 0 to 100 and represents the probability that the transaction is fraudulent, based on MaxMind&#8217;s fraud modeling. For example, an order with a score of 20 has a 20% likelihood of being fraudulent.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small;\">SEOM<\/span>\u00a0only reports the high-order digit received from MaxMind.
