Microsoft has announced the End of Life for SQL Server 2008 R2.
New users are strongly encouraged
to install SQL Server 2012 or 2014 to take advantage of the latest improvements
in the product, such as speed, and avoid the need to upgrade the software
in the near future.
Existing users of SQL Server 2008 R2 are encouraged to make plans to
upgrade to SQL Server 2012 or 2014 at your convenience, but preferably
before support ends for SQL Server R2 SP3.

- A high-speed broadband or T1 internet connection
- A Local Area Network (LAN)
or equivalent is required for multiple computers to access a common
store file simultaneously;
1000 Base-T (gigabit) Ethernet recommended, along with CAT5E cables.
- Wireless connections are not
recommended.
