The purpose of this topic is to report any issues that the customer should be aware of before installing Stone Edge on a workstation which also has MS Office/MS Access 2007 installed.
Users may experience problems when using the Stone Edge ALT and letter key combinations to "click" a control on a form when Access 2010 or Access 2007 are installed, due to changes that have been made in MS Access. For example, at the Manual Orders screen , the key combination of "ALT" plus the letter "M" causes the Line Items tab to be opened.
There are known compatibility issues with Access 97 format database files and Access 2007. It is advisable to convert databases in Access 97 format to a more recent format (Access 2002-2003).
Be sure to install the MS Graph feature of MS Office in order for the Dashboard charts to work properly. If Graphs is not installed, you may get a message stating that the OLE server is not registered. Go to Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, select Change to rerun the installer to include MS Graph.
If serious slowness is encountered while searching for, approving orders, or editing addresses at the Process Orders screen, check to see if the Microsoft Access 2007 ribbon is minimized or hidden. Minimizing the ribbon has improved the performance of the program for several of our customers. Users can choose whether to hide the ribbon that shows Microsoft Access functions by clicking the down arrow as shown in the image below and selecting or clearing Minimize the Ribbon in the drop-down list.
Microsoft Access 2007, by default, is installed with a high level of macro security that can interfere with the execution of code in many MS Access-based applications, such as Stone Edge To ensure that Stone Edge runs smoothly with Access 2007, follow the steps below BEFORE installing the Application!
By taking these measures, you will avoid a common installation problem due to the default macro security setting in Access 2007, which causes the installer to "freeze" and a leave a partial installation of the program.
Once Access is installed on your computer, download Microsoft Service Pack 2 for Office 2007 and follow the instructions within the Microsoft documentation to install the service pack. (This is a large file and takes a few minutes to download.)
Restart your computer after installing the service pack.
Open Microsoft Access. Click the Office button in the top left corner.
In the window that opens, click Access Options.
In the Access Options window, click Trust Center button on the left navigation bar.
Then on the next page that opens, click Trust Center Settings button in the lower right section of the page.
Choose Enable all macros (lowest macro security level) in the Macro Settings list.
Click OK and close out of Access. You can now install Stone Edge on this computer.
