Version 5.9

The purpose of this topic is to document any issues or requirements that the user should be aware of before attempting to use SQL Server with the Order Manager.
This software is only required to be installed if the merchant wishes to use an SQL database rather than a Microsoft Access database as the data file in conjunction with the Enterprise edition of the Order Manager. Stone Edge recommends that SQL Server should only be installed on the machine where the SQL data file will reside.
Each machine in the complex that will be running the Order Manager would still need to have the full version of Microsoft Access installed on it, as the application itself is based on the Microsoft Access platform.
The benefits of using SQL Server are:
Better data integrity, more stable platform
Larger database capacity (Not limited to 2GB file size as is Microsoft Access)
Automated backup capability and other database management tools
SQL Server 2005 or higher (any edition, including Express versions). Server requirements will vary depending on which edition of SQL Server that is being run. Please refer to the system requirements provided by Microsoft for SQL Server 2005 (view detailed requirements) for SQL Server 2008.
