Printing Shipping Labels

This article applies to Order Manager version 4.603 BETA and higher.

Note: The Order Manager defines Shipping Labels as labels that are completely or partially supplied by UPS, FedEx, etc. Mailing Labels are defined as labels that do not include an actual carrier-supplied shipping label.

About Printing Shipping Labels with the Order Manager

The Order Manager features multiple screens where labels can be printed, including batch printing functionality, and offers support for boxes and shipping scales. The Order Manager can print either simple thermal shipping labels or integrated packing slip/shipping labels. (You can purchase integrated packing slip/shipping label stock directly from Stone Edge.)

The Order Manager offers several methods for printing shipping labels. Some let you print labels directly from within the Order Manager, and others work outside of the Order Manager but connect to the Order Manager’s data files so you do not have to re-type names and addresses into the shipping software or tracking numbers back into the Order Manager.

Printing Shipping Labels "Within" the Order Manager

The Order Manager has its own built-in shipping software for UPS and FedEx, which enables you to print both shipping labels without opening another shipping software program. The Order Manager also provides seamless integration with ShipRush and Dazzle, so that you can print FedEx, UPS, DHL, and USPS labels via ShipRush, or USPS labels using Dazzle without having to leave the Order Manager and open another program.

Printing Shipping Labels "Outside" the Order Manager

You can print shipping labels outside the Order Manager using UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, or DHL DB Connect. These third-party shipping applications use an ODBC connection to import shipping information from an Order Manager data file. To set up printing with one of those programs, get the appropriate software from the shipping company and install it on the computer, or computers, where the Order Manager is installed. Then, "map" the shipping program to the Order Manager’s data files. Once that has been done correctly, you can use the shipping program to instantly import shipping data from the Order Manager without having to re-type names and addresses. The shipping programs can also be configured to automatically send tracking information back to the Order Manager. See the UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, and DHL Knowledge Base articles for more information.
